"My Name is Ian Pickering and born and bred in Evesham Worcestershire where I still live. Its really been a lifetime and passion from mine to study and observe the ever changing British Weather. I know people moan about our weather, but we have the most interesting and varied weather in the world! My aim is to understand why we get what we do in this country. Im not content to sit back and let it snow, rain, or blow a Gale. I want to know the physical reasons why it rains or snows for instance or why we get low pressure of high pressure. Im not saying that its easy to understand, because I do struggle at times to even begin to understand the complexity of the weather, but what I do is bit by bit in my mind to breakdown the complex physical laws of weather and try to understand in a logical way why the weather does this and that!
Its a pleasure and Privilege to be able to do the forecast for Touch Fm and share my humble knowledge and passion with the listeners. Meteorology is still a very young science and even a lifetime studying the weather would not be nearly long enough. Every day you can learn something new and I just love that.! The sky is an unending ever changing picture from, clear Blue skies to huge towering clouds and the fact that there is so much energy in our weather is also part of my fascination. The fact is humans are influenced greatly by such as the incredible power of weather that it should make us all very humble, I know it does to me....!" Ian.
