Warwickshire begins countdown to the Olympics

Friday, January 27th 2012 09:50

It's now six months until the London 2012 Games begin

The West Midlands Olympic Ambassador says the cost of London 2012 WILL fall within budget and WILL be money well spent.

It follows yesterday's speculation that the final bill will rise to 12 billion pounds, that's 25 percent over the original figure.

But with 6 months to go until the games, David Moorcroft believes people who aren't convinced now, WILL recognise it'll be worth the money.

Meanwhile Leamington Town Council will be discussing next week how they will be celebrating the arrival of the Olympic torch in Warwickshire in July.

At a meeting on Monday (30th) they will be looking at whether to host a special event in addition to those being organised by the District Council.
